Oats and Syrup Flapjacks Breakfast on the Go Recipe

 

Equipment

Saucepan 

Square Baking tin, 20 cm

Baking Paper

Teflon (or similar) Spatula

Chopping Board

Knife, Spoon, & Brush

 

Ingredients

175g butter

175g golden syrup

175g muscovado sugar

350g porridge oats

½ lemon, finely grated zest

pinch ground ginger

 

Method

  • Preheat oven to 150C/300F/Gas 2 and line a 20cm square baking tin with baking paper
  • Melt butter in medium pan over low heat. Dip brush in butter and brush baking tin. Add golden syrup and sugar to butter; heat gently. When sugar is dissolved and butter is melted, remove pan from heat and stir in porridge oats, lemon zest and ginger
  • Pack mixture into baking tin and squash down. Bake in oven for 40 minutes
  • When cooked, remove from oven, leave to cool for 15 minutes; turn out onto chopping board and cut into squares
